Here are Your WSOP Champions of the 90'sMansour Matloubi, Hamid Dastmaldu, Jim Bechtel, Dan Harrington, Huck Seed and Noel Furlong - what do these men have in common? If you are a true poker fan, you will recognize these people who won in the World Series of Poker main event in the 1990's. Mansour Matloubi Mansour Matloubi is a first in many things. He was the first one who won in the 1990's World Series of Poker main event, having won in the year 1990. He was also the first European who ever accomplished such feat. Consequently, he was also the first poker player to win in the said event who was not American. Hamid Dastmaldu Hamid started his lessons in poker in Iran, when he was just about twelve years old. Aside from being a professional poker player, he is also into real-estate business. He also won three World Series of Poker bracelets, aside of course, from the main event. Jim Bechtel Among all professional poker players, Jim was the most silent one. He is the total opposite of Phil Helmuth who always has something to say. Jim is a regular in big tournaments like WSOP and WPT, and was quite a poker star in the 1980's. Dan Harrington He is also known as Action Dan, who is somehow aggressive, but also sometimes tight in his poker games. Aside from poker, he is also good in backgammon. He is not only a professional gambler, but also a lawyer. A very intelligent man, he is also a chess master. He is known for being part of the MIT group which beat the roulette system, and of course, he is famous for his Red Sox cap. Huck Seed People usually do not take you seriously if you are named Huckleberry. However, this is an advantage for Huck Seed because opponents usually underestimate him which often leads them to their demise. He is an all-around gambler, and was known for gambling at almost anything. He bet Phil Helmuth that he could float for a whole day, and of course he lost. Noel Furlong Furlong's poker strategy is playing tight. Although a very lucky player, he does not want to depend on luck so much that he learned how to read hi opponents. He does not need to win to earn money, though. He has a his own business in Ireland. You see, different types of poker player have won in the main event of World Series of Poker. |
